PFS experienced great expansion since 2014, most significantly with the addition of the PFS Roxy theater.

Not only highly anticipated first run studio and independent films, but the Roxy also provides a year-round home for special programs such as the Saturday Morning Children’s screenings, late night Graveyard Shift flicks, filmmaker retrospectives, and the Filmadelphia Series supporting local filmmakers.

The PFS Roxy is home to the annual Philadelphia Film Festival, the Spring Showcase and the Philadelphia International Children’s Film Festival.

Rough Cut is honored and humbled to have joined this family of amazing festivals with screenings on Sat, 6/18 and Sun, 6/19 (930-230pm both days).

Beginning in 2013, the historic Roxy Theater became the new home of the Philadelphia Film Society (PFS). The new PFS Theater at the Roxy is located at 2023 Sansom Street in the Rittenhouse Square neighborhood of Philadelphia. Consisting of two row homes, the Roxy has functioned as a two screen movie theater since 1975.

PFS will operate the Roxy as a first-run theater, with an emphasis on independent films, many of which presently cannot be seen theatrically in Philadelphia. The PFS Theater at the Roxy will program an array of highly anticipated new films along with repertory cinema not widely available in the city and will also offer educational programs focused on film and filmmakers, designed for students of any age.

The Rough Cut Film Festival is proud to join this PFS family with screenings on Sat, 6/18 and Sun, 6/19 (930am-230pm).

The premiere science museum in America, TFI helped give birth to the Rough Cut Film Festival and has been the primary sponsor ever since.

Along with showcasing Official Selections for the 2016 RCFFest on the big screen in Franklin Theater, TFI also has the amazing exhibit THE SCIENCE BEHIND PIXAR (running throughout Festival Week).

Experience a unique, first-time look into the Pixar process, and explore the science and technology behind some of the most beloved animated films. This interactive exhibition showcases the science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) concepts used by the artists and computer scientists who help bring Pixar's award-winning films to the big screen.

With more than 40 interactive elements, the exhibition’s eight sections focus on steps in the filmmaking process to give you an unparalleled view of the production pipeline and concepts used at Pixar every day.

Participate in engaging hands-on activities, listen to firsthand accounts from members of the studios’ production teams, and even come face-to-face with re-creations of your favorite Pixar film characters, including Buzz Lightyear, Dory, Mike and Sulley, Edna Mode, and WALL•E!

The brainchild of Denise Hewett, Scriptd was formed because everyone deserves the opportunity to tell a great story. Denise's dream is to see an equalized Hollywood where everyone sees themselves on the screen properly represented.

First and foremost, Scriptd is about highlighting some of the industry's most talented writers. This is a platform for exciting voices--both established and undiscovered. For readers, it's a Pandora's Box of fascinating, original stories. For writers, it's the ultimate way to build buzz.

By connecting writers directly to readers, Scriptd gives writers the opportunity to immediately monetize their work. If a truly amazing script isn't getting enough buzz, we'll promote it on the Featured Banner to give it a PR boost.

Denise and Scripted are official sponsors of a special original screenplay category this year for Rough Cut since so many great ideas are yet to enter into production for a ton of frustrating reasons. The best scripts submitted will be profiled on Scriptd, and who knows how far it can go!?!

The brain child of Renee Hobbs, a tireless advocate for promoting heightened consciousness of media’s role in personal and social life, the Media Education Lab's work inspires students to create new transformative media with pop culture artifacts.

This year the Rough Cut Film Festival is accepting submissions that "transform" specific pieces of existing media in the creation of original new media. The very best will be eligible for an award sponsored by the Media Education Lab.

Check out our Submissions page for more info on the guidelines for this special category.
